Confidence, safety and independence
Your course combines dive theory (e-learning or classroom), confined-water skills in a calm, pool-like setting, and four open-water dives. After certification you can dive with a buddy without an instructor, anywhere in the world, to a maximum depth of 18 m (60 ft).

How it works
What to expect
1 · Briefing & shallow water
About 20–30 minutes covering equipment, breathing, equalising and signals, then standing-depth practice and your first 12 m dive.
2 · Confined water
Five sessions where you master mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy and emergency ascents.
3 · Open water dives
Dives 2 to 4 go to 12 m and 18 m, repeating skills in the ocean to PADI standards.
4 · Theory & exam
Pressure, buoyancy, no-decompression limits and dive computers, then a 50-question exam (75% pass).

How long does the PADI Open Water course take?
About 3 days. It combines dive theory (PADI e-learning or classroom), confined-water skills practice and four open water dives.
How deep can I dive after Open Water certification?
Up to 18 metres (60 ft), with a buddy, anywhere in the world. Your certification never expires.
What if I try it and do not like diving?
Your first dive is a Try Dive. If you decide to continue, it counts toward your course at no extra cost. If you do not, you only pay for that single dive.
What is the minimum age?
The minimum age for the PADI Open Water Diver course is 10 years.
Do I need to be a good swimmer?
Only basic swimming skills are needed. Our instructors help you build the required skills for free if you need it.
What is included in the price?
All equipment, expert PADI instructor guidance, tea, coffee and snacks, and your certification. Premium packages include a Sri Lankan style lunch, and the Dive & Stay package adds two nights in a private double room.
Can I do the course in Trincomalee?
Yes. We run the Open Water course in both Unawatuna and Trincomalee. Trincomalee is seasonal, so check availability when you contact us.
